Weekly update from Fr. Catania 4-30-17

Dear members and friends of St. Barnabas,

We rejoice this Eastertide that St. Barnabas has completed the purchase of the new properties on Davenport Street. The rectory is being established at 4124 Davenport, and in the next week of so, the church offices will be moved there. Please note that the main St. Barnabas phone number will remain the same, but will now ring at the new rectory. A new number will be assigned for the existing church phone. With the acquisition of the two duplexes next to the church, plans can commence for installing the elevator and new bathrooms on the east side of the church. In the meanwhile, all four apartments remain rented, but will all be empty by the end of the summer. They will then be usable by the Chesterton Academy for classrooms and offices, as well as a residence for our new organist Mr. Thomas Andrews and his family.

Please take note of the following upcoming dates:

Saturday, May 6 Chesterton Academy of Omaha Spring Gala at St. Robert Bellarmine Parish Center, 6-9 pm
Monday, May 8 Installation of tile floor begins, starting at the rear of the church
Thursday, May 25 Last day of school for the Chesterton Academy; Solemnity of the Ascension (Holy Day of Obligation) with Solemn High Mass at 7 pm
Sunday, June 4 Pentecost Sunday, Solemn High Mass at 10:30 am; first Sunday for Mr. Thomas Andrews, organist and choirmaster
Sunday, June 11 Trinity Sunday/St. Barnabas Day, Solemn High Mass at 10:30 am
Sunday, June 18 Corpus Christi, Solemn High Mass followed by Procession and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament (details to follow)

Be sure to check the newly-overhauled St. Barnabas website for additional news, events, and any changes to the schedule.

Yours in Christ,
Fr. Jason Catania
