Weekly update from Fr. Catania 5-5-17

Dear members and friends of St. Barnabas,

Greetings in the name of the Risen Lord. This week's update is just a brief note regarding some events in and around St. Barnabas during the next few days. The parish has purchased a table at the Spring Gala for the Chesterton Academy of Omaha on Saturday evening at St. Robert Bellarmine Parish Center beginning at 6 pm. If you would like to attend, please let me know. The relationship between Chesterton and St. Barnabas is rapidly evolving, and I urge you support this most worthy endeavor for the education of youth in the classical Christian tradition. See here for further information on the Gala, which I will be emceeing as the newly-elected president of the school board.

And speaking of education, this Sunday we will be taking up a second collection for the support of seminary education for the young men preparing for the priesthood in the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter. This is a vitally important effort to ensure that the next generation of Ordinariate clergy are given the best possible priestly formation. You can find out more by clicking here. Donations be made either on Sunday, or via the Ordinariate website.

Please note that the next phase of the renovation of our parish church is scheduled to commence on Monday with the start of the installation of the new tile floor. While this work is going on, weekday Mass may be celebrated at the temporary altar in the undercroft to ensure completion in as timely a manner as possible. Your patience is most appreciated.

Finally, please be aware that the transfer of the church offices to new rectory is currently underway. The church phone now rings at the rectory, and soon I will be keeping office hours there. Once again, your patience is greatly appreciated during this transition.

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Jason Catania
